Agree totally, used to be You tossed up a site ,a few pics, found a sponsor, and just started promo....I made so much money advertising AFF click thru at (if i remember .16 a hit) one good day getting on a few Big TGP's and my regular traffic - i'd get 16k uniques and maybe 150 sign ups, in 01 it went south and last I used them i was getting .01...... I still think for the small operator the right model, right marketing and people will join and stay with her like a girlfriend You can have a good run at it.
But yes the day of the beer money webmaster are numbered......

Hi Honey, WOW what a nice surprise and waltz down memory lane...I miss those ol' times alot. You have done well for yourself.
Yes, alot of things remain the same but I have always said those trying to "earn" off yesterdays business model are starting to feel some lower margins. More specifically, those still using business models from the 90's....
It was interesting today to see Rog from PornKings come forward and admit due to lower margins he had to do a 2 person layoff in one of his 3 branch offices [Seattle I believe] [Tampa, Seattle & Philipines]. He admitted he has to steer away from leased content and go exclusive....
I have always wondered if the original sponsors doing things the way they did for many years could compete in this competitive market slowly leaning and growing towards exclusive content.
Then BAMMO, Rog comes forward from PornKings and states he is strong, very much around and changing the way they do business in the future was the jest of it.
It seems in this business very few twists and turns yield solid crops forever...I remember when Jimbo [Yup, Greenie's Jimbo] entered the TGP business and he was kicking ass! Now I wonder how that is going....I have my suspicions...
I am also seeing webmasters doing some great sites and putting more effort into them vs. free pics with a banner buffet on top.
The whole area of content has done a real 180....used to be everyone had to buy content, now ya get it from the sponsors.
Our business is still very young, and there is still a pot full of money to be made..so many ppl doing things the old stale way may see margins dropping but that is not the sky falling, its them failing...
I am seeing webmasters due some amazing conversion ratio's, so it makes me wonder and rethink stuff....
In our time, it was a given...now its an art form.
