I remember in early 1997 putting up my first adult site on the free server space my college gave students to use lol. All of the pictures were basically taken from picposts like PornyPics. Sponsors were paying like 10 cents
per click then! So we would use the infamous "Next Page" blind link and would just site there reloading our stats every few minutes watching the money column go up. We made around $700 our very first month and it seemed sort of surreal. There was just so much easy traffic for everyone then that it was actually difficult to not make good money.
Eventually the college asked me to take down the site and I had to learn about getting a server and my own domain name, and actually paying for content, which was a big expensive commitment back then! Soon AVS became huge and I did that for many years. AdultCheck and PornoPass put me through college lol.
