They are all mostly free hosts that have some built in popularity that transfers to new subdomains or in a lot of cases are old forums that have been hacked and are being used by the cheaters. Most of them last about a month and then a new set replaces them.

AHA! Thank you Linkster, I haven't been watching closely for all that long, and I'd been considering doing some subdomain stuff myself. Good to hear that the hassle wouldn't be worth it before going through the hassle
