I think your problem is that you're set on making one side 500 so that the pics fit the minimum for most link lists - so then you end up with over compressed pics that look like shit just to save $1 each month on your bandwidth

Actually, the pictures were different sizes, as you may have suspected. I tried to make them fit the 3:2 ratio because I remembered you telling me one time that you preferred them to be that way. By the way, the pics are from Tia at midnightdigital, but not in the manner you see them on my galleries.
If I were to submit the originals, the pic sizes would vary, and I'm pretty sure you would reject them for not being uniform. I know enough about photoshop to crop them up and such. What do you think about cutting/cropping to fit the criteria or is it a waste of my time?
