I have to take Jugg's side on this one. IMHO nothing is more rude that throwing a bunch of random bullshit at someone about what they do in their own home. If you don't like it, leave... pretty cut and dried.
I'm a smoker of many years and while I won't sit on my sofa and blow smoke right in a nonsmoking visitor's face, I expect them to extend me the same courtesy I would extend them if the roles were reversed. The only person in my family who has a "smoking house" is my dad... at everyone else's house I will go outside if I feel the need to light up. I also do a lot of wall washing and carpet cleaning so my house doesn't smell like a dirty ashtray... for ME, not for them.
It's ironic that so many people complain about smoking, but it's harder than hell to get a law passed to ban it. A few weeks ago, the Colorado state legislators decided they were going to pass a bill banning all public smoking in restaurants and bars. I just heard on the news last night that they're losing their asses on the deal and there's no way it will pass... even the restaurant association has pulled it's support after deciding it would probably do more harm than good to the owners/operators. The moral of this story? Smokers' money is just as green as nonsmokers' money and they don't want to lose a single cent of it.
Bottom line is, whether anyone likes it or not, smoking cigs is still legal in this country. You choose not to smoke, I choose to smoke... it doesn't make either of us wrong, just different. |cool|
