Both of my parents know what I do but none of the extended family on either side knows, with the exception of one uncle who's only seven years older than I am. As for the rest, somehow I don't think my southern-bred bible thumping aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents would take it real well, and I'm a big advocate of peace in the family
How I describe what I do depends entirely upon the person asking. I use the "internet marketing" line most often... I've found most people have so little understanding of that phrase they tend to let it go at that. I have used "I work in the adult entertainment field" a couple of times and gotten interestingly mixed results.
I kind of resent having to hide behind fancy "titles" when talking about my work. I'm in no way ashamed of or embarrassed by what I do; however, I'm also painfully aware that discretion is oftentimes the better part of valor... okay so I'm actually the poster child for nonconfrontationality and believe the path of least resistance is always best
