I exchanged several emails with new.net about .xxx and it simply came down to them saying that there is nothing more they can do. They had originally told me they would refund my money if I recently purchased any xxx domains through them. Then they said that if ICANN approved .xxx as a TLD then there would be the ICANN version AND the new.net version. For those of you who are not familiar with new.net, you have to install a browser plugin in order to view their extensions such as .kids, .xxx, .family etc etc.
So two things could happen when a surfer types in sex.xxx for example. The first being he would see the domain registered through ICANN. The second being his ISP or browser has the new.net plugin so he will only see the new.net version of sex.xxx.
Should be very interesting to see if this really happens. I don't see new.net being allowed to offer .xxx anymore and that anyone with a .xxx with new.net has just lost money... but I could be wrong.
