For cgiguy's scripts....I haven't heard too much top praise for them really. My friend got their script awhile back but Iknow he does't think too much of it. As UW embarked on, CGI can be an issue if you are wanting to make modifications, whereas PHP is easier to play around with. I know for the gossamer Links SQL one, many sites uses it, but I still can't seem to justify paying their huge price (and yes its CGI -- although they do have a php option now I think)....In another thread I was asking if anyone has used IndexU. I REALLY like that one from what I can see in their demo (and soon to release version)....except one big problem; the script maker who lives in Jakarta I think, doesn't want his script used for adult sites at all...even though there would be no connection or awareness to the site visitor (only through the registration of the script). For $100....its a good one.
Just going back to the cgiguy's script....the one thing that most would find cool, is the banner management feature. I would say...be sure whatever you choose because later in time if you decide to upgrade to a different one, its a huge job and a half to change it (especially when you are dealing with established indexed category page urls in SE's).
Right now I am looking to upgrade from my infowizards (not overly happy with it) to probably xpowerlinks. If I had the time, I might create my own.
