If someone attempted to burn "Tropic of Cancer" or "Catcher in the Rye" (both of which were 'banned' books at one time)..the ACLU and other constitutional protecting organizations would be up at arms. I don't see the difference between banning books and banning the internet.

Parents are the 1st line of responsibility in what their children learn. We are not a generation of ostritches..we know that children at school talk, we know the information is out there.. parents should have a dialogue with their children regarding this and they should KNOW where their children surf. Why is it so hard for a parent to sit their child down and prepare them for what is to come? At age 10 or 12, who is more credible? Little snot nosed Joey from 5th grade or your parents? My 12 yr old son had "Hygiene" class which gave indepth descriptions and illustrations of what his hormones would be doing over the next few years. Of course HE already knew that since his parents had told him the necessity of being clean, of being protected, of the difference between "love" and "sex" to be respectful of others privacy and to respect his own feelings.

It's not the evil Internet or adult webmasters who should be policed..it's parents who refuse to remember what THEY knew at 12, 13, 15 etc.. and children that age today have much more information than we parents did at that age.
