On the most part, we begin language training far too late and don't put enough emphasis on it. Foreign language classes should begin at the elementary level, not high school, while a chi|d's mind is the most elastic and is language learning mode. Language study should also be focused on conversational skills, not just the ability to read and spell, which is so often the case. My wife took both French and Spanish in high shoo|, as well as college. From what I can tell, she may not be able to order a glass of water. I took 2 years of German in high school (passed with a D+
) and then studied it for 9 months straight, 8 hours a day. I can speak enough to get myself arrested at the very least.
