I remember a LL owner saying something about preventing a cheat by requiring everything including content inside one folder.
I'm probably not seeing some obvious problem, but I see nothing wrong with multiple index.htmls in different directories linking to a single main.html. That way, I figure nothing gets slashed by SE's as duplicate content, all index.htmls get listed in G/Yahoo and LL's get more PR and SE traffic.
