Folks, we've seen police on local TV try to get people to leave and they won't. Haven't seen (on the local news) the police forcibly evacuate anyone.
Bill, I'm not sure that I believe that article that you posted. Nothing against you, but I think the author is lying.
Also, I know for a fact that the National Guard is down there. That article says "The only government group anyone has seen are the police with sawed-off shotguns threatening to arrest everyone who is walking around on the streets." This is just not true.
My friend that is down there called last night and said that the locals are throwing rocks and bottles of urine at them as they just walk by. His thought is that these people are the scum of the earth and most of his comrades in the military wish that they'd be allowed to open up on these lowlifes and put'em out of everybody's misery.
He also says that they've seen reports on CNN and the folks down there think those reports are mostly bullshit. This is straight from my buddy in the Guard unit in New Orleans.
Incidentally, I may talk with him tomorrow at some point. If anyone has any relevant questions, I'd be glad to ask him and post it here.
