Pi * Radius ^ 2 * Height = volume of a cylinder. Then you get the fun of converting that to something like cubic yards which gardening companies tend to use. You COULD make your measurements in yards to avoid one computation.

3.1415 * .66 yards squared * .5 yards = or .684 cubic yards per pot.

12 pots would be about 8.2 yards of potting soil

Never have I had to use so much geometry since doing yardwork.
