Columbus did not ever set foot on US soil and really only came over and killed, maul and enslave the Arawak Indians of Haiti.
Luckily the ones he tried to kill in Jamaica hid in the hills and kicked his ass.. or so the story goes. decendants of them still live in the Mt. in a place called Maroontown.
