Tickler, it is a major problem that exists right now. Violation of privacy laws in order to allow others to honor the laws of their country. It's a very difficult situation.

The reality is that Canadian (and European) porn producers will need to add terms and conditions to their model releases that will include permission to distribute the personal information, otherwise they will be restricted to selling the content only outside of the US (which is starting to look like a good business model).

I ran into a different situation soon, and one that has stopped me entirely from edit videos for US webmasters:

The US customs as of about August 1st has added major restrictions to packages and parcels going into the US. Basically, you must declare absolutely everything that is in the package itemized (no exceptions), and in the case of video tapes, you must list the running time of each video, and describe IN DETAIL the content of the video. Now, that is just paperwork bullshit, but the part that got me: I have to declare that the material on the tapes is not obscene.

Now, considering obscentity in the US is dependant on the community in which it is viewed, and I cannot control the path or methods that the post office, fedex, or UPS might take to transport the materials, there is no way that I can make that declaration. I could be in a situation of making a false declaration and causing obscene materials to be transported interstate.

I removed myself from that part of the industry. I will do work for Canadian and european webmasters, but I will not handle anythign that is subject to US customs declarations.
