If your laptop also has bluetooth capability, wifi (802.11) and bluetooth conflict with each other. So, they have a switch that allows you to turn off the wifi antenna when you want to use bluetooth.
Your laptop only needs to have that as an available option for them to put the switch there -- that way, 1 production run, and they can decide whether to put in the bluetooth daughtercard in.
