If you can tear yourself away from the resort.. a nice day trip to Negril (by far the BEST beach in jamaica) is fun..
My favorite small resort in Negril
have cocktails at sunset at the Fabu.. Ricks cafe!!
or the other way to Runaway Bay/Ocho Rios/Port Antonio..i had a house for a year in a small town between called Oracabessa..took 6 months off from life and lived down there.. it was awesome..unfortunately i'm too much of a city girl.. but it was a great experience.. and i got the greatest gift from there, my now 12 yr old son. He's a jamarican. |rasta|
In Montego Bay itself the local nightlife (always more fun than the touristy) is mainly in the Rosehall area.
I don't recognize your resort there, John, but they change names frequently. Doctor's Cave beach is in downtown MoBay so you should be within walking distance of several other points of interest.
all along the roadsides are small "rum bars" that cook Jerk *a form of bbq*...and serve up shots or drinks.. they are quite fun as well..as you get a lot of local color. Hustling used to be pretty bad along the beaches in MoBay.. but now if a local gets caught harrassing the tourists, they can be jailed.
No trip to jamaica, in my opinion, can be complete without a trip to the rum bars and jerkpits.. sipping a red strip or a shot of Overproof and munching some great Jerk!!!
