When you have a window open in the Finder, you can type command-1, command-2, and command-3 to switch from icon view to list view to column view. Makes it easy to toggle around since you'll want to see different views for different tasks.

Example: open a folder of images and type command-1 and you'll see little previews of all your images. Now type command-j and you can set the size of those previews. At 128x128 size, you can do a lot of image sorting without ever having to open an image.
