If that doesn't work. Take one of those backups and use it to directly overwrite your empty bookmark.html in your profile folder.

I couldnīt solve it that way. All data (passwords, cookies) still exists. Bookmarks, history and some settings like default homepage are gone. It seems to me the default user was overwritten.
