Neighbor bought one of the propane ones and it didn't help at all. He lives right on the Intercostal waterway which is salt water and that also does not help.
A few years ago I bought three dozen Citronella Torches and put them all around my backyard. They made so much smoke that it was hard to breath and got black soot all over everything but did nothing for keeping the little blood sucking mosquitoes away.
I lived in the Keys for almost a year and we would cover ourselves with the cheapest product that contained the most Deet every morning, afternoon, and evening. We smelled like insecticide and I think I've still got health issues from the toxic effects but it did work.
My screened in porch works great.
