1. For me, the main thing is content. just having sets of 12 pics available to download are an immense help. I never liked promoting a site with content that isnt on the site, thats where i get into the 1:1000 ratios. but if i can use some of the content from the site to promote it, thats when ratios seem to get alot better. Of course make sure that the main icing on the cake stays in the members area, like lightspeed, they have a gigantic amount of free content, but they leave all the movies and most totally nude shots for members only.

2. hosted galleries, obviously

3. I definitly LOVE to see a forum, if an affiliate site has a forum, then most likely at first glance of said affiliate, you can be pretty sure they dont rip off webmasters, and you can get help from other webmasters as well, promoting the sites.

4. i like to see referring url's for my sales! most sponsors do this, but a few dont and secondly, i love to see not only for sales, but for hits, unique and raw, to see which pages are sending the most traffic.

5. Above all, I dont like waiting 24 hours for a quick support question
sometimes I have a question that will take 15 seconds to answer, and it takes days to get a reply. Webmaster support above all is key most of the programs I use the most, if they dont have something in the affiliate area, they will make it for you (Like psd's of paysite logos and such). Of course this isnt always feasible for smaller programs, which is understandable

hope this helped

@Jim
if basic scripts where allowed on free sites it would be possible. years ago i used to submit my free site, to say link-o-rama and i would submit mydomain.com/mysite/index.htm#greenguy
and pass on the #greenguy to each page, and when i get a sale i would know what linklist sent it

but its probably a good thing scripts arent allowed, more trouble then they are worth, and most webmasters wont know what a safe script versus a dangerous script looks like.

It really is one of those things that would take a huge amount of work, and may be possible in a few years with new technologies, that allow websites to share information with eachother. that would be cool
