Good morning all. Lots of work to do today. 5 years ago I was transfered to a new TOC-NCC(tatical operations command network control center). I just got there July 1st (birthday) and had not really gotten to know everyone. Just a little PFC. 3 of the guys were at training in other parts of the country, my direct boss was home sleeping. I was the only one in the office and was freaking out that no one of command was there to give any direction. The phones were ringing like crazy and I was being told to get on secure lines. I had no idea where the secure line was lol. Then I kept getting knocks on the door (I was in the only room with a TV). I was asking people who they were through the speaker and they were telling me Major this, General that. I had no idea who these people were but was told "if they don't have a card to enter the room, they do not get in! No matter who they are they do not get in!" so here I am telling high ranking guys I can't let them in the room lol. Being I'm in NJ it was rather crazy. I finnaly got my boss on the line and just yelled at him to get his ass in the building. He was upset not knowing what was going on that I just yelled an hung up the phone. I get another knock at the door and it's my head boss telling me he forgot his card and I'm to open the door or I'll have a nice trip someplace cold for a long time. I open and in walks more brass then I ever expected to see. They were planning stuff for up at Liberty Park and needed live video feeds to the location and down the DC. I was the only one with that experience, hence my start to the webcam world . so I was ordered up to Liberty to set it up. Once there I did not leave for 3 days. It was constant back and forth across the river to the trade center site. That was just fucked up looking at all that mess. Anyway it was sad seeing all the medical people and not one person came over the river. After about 48 hours, things slowed down I was allowed to run home for 2 hours to get a change of clothes. Honestly it was a very exciting time in my life but something I would not want to see or do again..
