One to make sure the account is working and nothing screwed up and two (over time) to check their stats for your program. It is no big deal for them to go get the link in the banner section, of which they can bookmark for when they just want to build. You can use the ccbill program to email all your afils of updates to the content also which is another plus as you don't need to maintain their emails or a news letter.
