Cool - glad you got it sorted.
I think all externals are sold formatted as FAT32 - which can be accessed & written to by both Windows & Linux (& therefore Macs, I assume) straight out of the box.
It'd be nice if they could both use one file format that can cope with files over 4gb.
Off to the phone box to put my pants on over my trousers now ;-)
