The golden age of antwerp was around 1300-1400 (after the invasion ot he spanjards, al the protestant people fled to a small town, which wouldl develop in to amsterdam in holland, which led to the golden age of amsterdam). One of the families that fled antwerp was Stuyvesandt, who would later found the city of NY (new amsterdam).

The UN, Nato, European Parlement are all based in our capital Brussels.
WO 1 was fought in belgium (flanders fields in West-Flanders)
Napoleon was beaten in belgium (Waterloo)
