I used to live by the PR thing and I have a site with a PR5 that gets 500 hits a day and a PR4 that gets 2400 a day. Add a few PR0 new sites that get between 300 to 400 a day and although the pr can be used as a 'rough' guide it is not the be all and end all.

Now if I get a link exchange request the first thing I do is enter the 'url' in question into Google to see if it has been indexed and I have a look at the cache if I do not know the webmaster to check that all is in order.

Then most important, do I like the look and feel of the exchange partners site, will it get well indexed good traffic and has it got content or is it a quick one page site full of links and no real content

I then look at his/her site to see how many outward links 100+ or so and again I am not interested.

Just the way I do things...
