I believe you should mix up the banners and text. I would never say you should have no banners, as some surfers will click the banners, however, if you have too many then the site is not as effective either.

Banners not only help you sell the sponsor you are promoting, but they also provide a way to separate sections of your blog. So use the banners where it makes sense.

Looking at your site, you have two banners, back to back, for Porn Wars. That's too much. One banner is more than enough. Also, I would put the banner at the end of the text. Do your sales pitch then have the banner.

You have several images that appear to be thumbs but are actually blind links...not a good idea. Put some content on the page,a nd make it very clear that its free content. You want to show the surfers what they get if they click the banner as this is part of your sales pitch.

Every webmaster has different ideas on how to best build a blog, so learn from everyone.
