Well the comment was on the domain name and not on your seo skills. You have to agree that it's not the best domain and there were "better" ones available for $10.
It's not that hard to get a top Yahoo listing at least not for three word search phrases. In fact I once had a domain ranked #2 for over half a year for a single adult keyword. All the website contained was a title and a H1 tag with the keyword and not a single link to that domain (yes I did not do anything with that traffic
