Alot of people are sure about alot of things when it comes to SEs (e.g. submitting an XML sitemap causes rankings to tank, PPC spending impacts organic results, etc).
Some logical fallacies to avoid when using your brain (especially when you're thinking about black boxes like Google with 1000 of factors that contributes to any single effect):
1) Cum hoc ergo propter hoc (a before b, so a caused b).
2) Argumentum ad numerum (most people believe X, so it must be true).
