Some mailmen just suck. I swear I lost a bunch of mail just before Christmas with a part time mailman and am in the same boat as you regarding checks.
Years ago, I had a big dog named John. He stayed in our fenced in yard most of the day. After a few times of the mailman going through the gate to get a drink from my hose, John ran towards him barking. I had to go to court and move John out of town so they wouldn't kill him.
I have no love for any mail delivery people.
