It is amazing that I have 2 tattoos because I'm needle phobic. And Emerald, I really dislike pain too. My ankle tattoo dispite taking darvocette still hurt, but this one was uncomfortable at most. I never thought I'd be happy about having pinched nerves, lol.

I even watched him do some of my ankle on Thursday, (we added more colors) and today I'm going to stretch his arm for him while he works on it. A year ago I couldn't even watch him tattoo, lol. You get used to it and the needles are so tiny and move so fast, you can't really see them anyways just the ink going in.

The design is a combination of two ancient designs. the outline symbolizes the waxing, full and waning moons, which represent the maiden, mother, and crone aspects of the Goddess. The 3 swirls in the middle of the full moon is the triskele, a celtic design that is associated with druids. Combining them like that I haven't seen before...we came up with that.

There are VERY few tattoo artists that do pointilature (not sure how to spell that) but drawings that are composed of dots. For one thing, it takes longer because you don't do lines. That took about 2 hours which we have found is about our limit for a sitting.

MadHatter used to silk-screen t-shirts he designed that were all dots for all the shading, althought they did have some linework. When he started getting back into tattooing and saw how few did these types of designs, I told him he should specialize in it.
