Oh man that poor mother. First her husband and now her daughter. Although I'm a "fatalist" believing that when it is your time, it's your time, nothing ever makes sense when children are involved. I'd like to think that wherever her dad is, he needed her more than her mom did.
Truthfully, even when your kids are grown, you never ever stop worrying about them.
Hopefully your daughter will have fond memories of her friend once this passes.
