It's not as easy as this. It's not about if the content is sponsor content or bought. It's about whether the content appeals to the surfer enough to get him to go to the site and once there sign up because it's what he came looking for. It could be bought or it could be sponsor content.

It might be bought or it might be given. It may be you can't buy the niche and style the sponsor's site is selling. Most of the non exclusive content is shot for the mass market, small niches are around, but usually over sold. Because the content providers shoot for the mass market. Then does the shooter know what he's shooting. Tough one to get right and needs skill and hard work. But not impossible.

It might be the sponsor has so little you can't get anything that has not been submitted many times before. Small sites have limited content to give to affiliates, how many were there before you? Use it when it's fresh, or go right back and hope what you use has been forgotten by the people checking submissions.

With the amount of work some models do you might be able to buy content of the model who is in site and have a lot less people using it than sponsor content. Make sure the content fits the site you're sending the traffic to.

It might be the content being given to you for free is non exclusive content. Sponsors buy non exclusive content and give it to affiliates as free content.

If only it were as easy as bought or sponsor content.
