Probably because the Hive is what Microsoft called their datastore in W2k.
And the hive is very protective of being shut down.
Hope everyone has a good day - for me, moving on to the next phase in a project. Replaced 828 lines of C with 43 lines of perl last night, and it works better. Lesson learned -- do not outsource certain projects.
