I really consider the "re-write" handwritten or maybe assisted handwritten? lol. I know it might be a matter of semantics, but making an rss feed presentable, fixing it up, making it in your own style...that just = handwritten to me.
The only thing it does save is a little mental power coming up with the initial theme / focus and you don't have to select the content.
