I am waiting until more is known about google suggest before I think about doing anything drastic to my SEO plans, however has it not been pretty standard practice to optimise for a search term of no more than 3 for quite some time anyway?

Usually the longer search terms contain one or two of your keywords, then the extra stuff is just gravy in your content.
