I think they've only done the first proton beam tests so far. Basically just seeing if they can get the beam to circulate the way they want, first counterclockwise and then reversing direction and then reversing back again to be sure it does what they want/expect. Probably the only thing that could be hurt during the test with a limited number of protons are the walls lining the beam path since the magnets need to be adjusted perfectly during these tests (and one of the reasons they're doing these first).

I think the first collisions will be sometime next month.

So there's still a little time before the world ends.

Not a lot.
