According to Adobe help files you are suppose to add this to your head section.
<link href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" rel="icon" />
<link href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" rel="shortcut icon" />
There is a nice bonus in doing it this way in that you can have just one favicon.ico for all your pages instead of putting it in the root of each directory.
