Seriously, this is a topic that's been tossed around for years, literally. I agree that we shouldn't be putting hardcore on free sites; I also think we shouldn't be putting hardcore on TGP galleries.
But try to get listed with a purely softcore gallery.
At least on free sites the LL owners have more common sense and *most* will list your site with no harcdcore.

I think the old argument simply said: hardcore displayed on free sites was bad for sales. But I think the point the author makes in this new article is that too much free harcore might grab more attention than the industry wants, especially from people like Ashcroft and the Right-Wing crowd. In other words, if we don't want the government breathing down our necks, we had better start a self-regulating process and encourage other webmasters to follow it. It would be good for sales and good for the longevity of the industry.
