I've noticed it being a bit slow too.
I'm currently looking for a forum script which is easier for non technical surfers to understand. Pretty much like wwwboard, but with smilies and some way of banning IPs.
I used a script called Robboard for a while which was very simple, but had IP banning and an admin behind .htaccess... but I then upgraded to phpBB and now I got a load of posters moaning that they don't understand the phpBB board.
So I'm looking for a simple middle ground board with a secure admin, that is fool proof from a surfer point of view.
