Not that I've ever heard, unless something's really changed with the algos since I haven't been paying much attention. Most CMS products including blogs use a combination of divs and tables, or pick one of the two and stick with it.
I'd be amazed if tables hurt you, they're my go-to setup for building freesites and I still get decent SE traffic to freesites I built years ago
