I don't think so, just keep them damp and they should rot into nice black soil. At least that is what happens to our piles.
Maybe get some compose starter bacteria. I've never had to use it but I live in the tropics where everything rots if left outside.
Haven't read it yet, but
Let It Rot is supposed to be a very good guild for composing.
