I was at the first Earth Day in Philadelphia, April 1970. I was a freshman at an all-boys prep school at the time and I discovered quite a few interesting things hanging out with the 7,000 people in the crowd at Independence Mall that year. Particularly the people who didn't go to all-boys prep schools. And I was there every year afterwards.
