You have to check the TOS (terms of service) of the provider, it will be pointed out what's legal or not there. There are "normal" providers that allow adult if you have paid services, but don't allow it if you use their free services.
But if you're going to do adult I would use an adult provider, can't see any reason why not.
Hostgator, Amerinoc, Certified Hosting, M3server (his banner is up on the left) all accept and host adult material, that is ofcourse as long as it is legal and you have the right to publish what you publish
