The mental and physical toll that a messed up sleep pattern has on a person is huge, so any time spent away due to whatever, being unmotivated etc, is understandable.
I've been going through a touch of this myself this past year, although nothing to the degree that you've been suffering. I've just noticed a few apnea-like symptoms starting to develop -- a bit more snoring where I never used to snore at all, awakening more during the night, having to get up to the bathroom more etc, and recently on a few occasions waking up gulping or gasping for air. I've also been a bit more unfocused during the day, and more headaches. Definitely apnea-like or the forerunner to it.
So I sunk a small fortune into all new bedding, new matress, new memory foam overlay, new pillows, high thread count sheets, the works. And I'm happy to report that it seems to be helping. In the past month or so I am sleeping much better and haven't woken up gulping air even once lately.
But I realize that you are far beyond so easy a fix with your level of apnea and other stuff you have going on. Glad to see you back at it though, that's something. Any degree of relief or improvement is welcome I'm sure, because when you're not sleeping right it really fucks up everything in your life, health, mind, etc.
