You are in luck actually. Japan's population is expected to halve by 2100. Workers, skilled and not skilled are desperately needed. Teach English, work for an international company. Rakuten for example, a kick ass global retailer does business in English.

Also, covid has provided for way more work at home jobs. The trend is rising. Office buildings are slowly emptying as companies are allowing people to work remotely.

Our town inside Tokyo is becoming popular so many new high rises are going up. because we are one of the last train stops in the city. And people are tired of cramped spaces and want to have more room to run.

Yes, "Kominka" old houses, are really ticking up in sales. I have friends who bought a compound, 3/4 of a US acre, walled in and huge house. It sounds great but Japan is new to insulation. These houses are drafty as fuck. I've seen a trend in facadism going on though. Leave the outside looking old and cool and build an inner house with all the mod cons. Still, they are so much more beautiful than the shipping containers passing for many modern houses here. Yuck.

We are looking to build a house on some land wife's family owns. There's not much "flipping" going on here except in downtown Tokyo. Houses are cheap, land is expensive. If anything, houses are like cars, move in and value starts dropping. However, many towns are offering same deals as Italy. Come to live and we will give you a house...
