It depends and there are many variables. It is usually said these days that PPS (pay per signup) is superior to partner accounts because you get more security in gettign the money right away (in case they go out of business, can't retain, change programs, can you, etc).

But I will tell you a story. I first got into this business in late 1998 and when starting out I built AVS sites. I stayed in the biz until early 2002, then quit for a year and a half recently getting back into it. Anyway, long story short, I still recieve checks from an AVS > $100 a month in partnership revenue for sites that have not really existed in over two years, let alone been promoted in about three. That means there are about ten members who stayed over three years.

10 members * $10 payout * 36 months = $3,600 from 10 signups.

While this is pretty optimistic these days and you shouldn't count on your members staying 36 months (let alone 3), it goes to show you what is possible at least. If anyone is interested on what AVS was actually honest enough to do this ... it was Netverifier.
