18 months might be a little exageration. Although, yes depending on layout, it can be a while before your site breaks even. The main thing to consider is how do you justyify charging for a dating service when the likes of AFF have 100Ks of members? Many new dating sites actually start of 100% free. When they have 5 to 10 K members, they then turn on an option in their script manager, allowing surfers to upgrade at a price (at this point, certain once free features are disabled : internal email, chat rooms, etc). This is why starting a dating service aimed at your own locality (state, province, county) is a better business plan. YOu can start charging with fewer members. I my experience, it's VERY easy to use PPC for targetting to your local dating site.
