Not so newbie saying Hi!
Hello everyone,
Im Juan Carlos. Introducing myself.
Ive been in the biz since 1993 or so. But in 98 sold out (in ebay) all my pay sites. Burned out... Changed over to regular non-adult biz and consulting. Been back in the scene for about a year reading boards and catching up on how all this has evolved. Wow...
I started when:
Network solutions was the olny registrar.
HTML was still 0.x
Mozilla was king and netscape was born.
You still needed a shell acount with ppp to access the web.
I was around when IBill was just web900 and accepted no credit cards, I had account "200"... And each account was for one specific site.
There were no pop ups, or dialers.
Yahoo was absolute king and was only a links list with a funky search feature.
There was no google or page ranks.
I left when sponsors were getting started, when ******* was still condom (which I was an active member of) and YNot was at a low point (also a member of), the adult chamber was a stupid single little old html links page, and pic posts were just taking form.
Now am back and its all about sponsors, tgps, and other shit giving away what we used to charge 10 or 20 bucks a month for. Its amazing how things change, and more on our corner of the net.
I remember when I had a site with 2000 pics, and I would feel I was giving away too many of them too cheap for 19.95.
I remember when from time to time there used to be a competition at condom to see who could send the most traffic to a specific arranged page, and I could easily be at the top 3 with a few hundred thousand hits in one morning. Now you have to fight and bleed to get 50k to your site.
But some things never change....
Green Guy was still green guy and Link-o-Rama was still a top site.
Sorry to go on for so long, but those of you that have been in here for that long I thought it would bring back some memories.
Nice to see there are always good people in the biz, and a lot of them are at this board.
Not sucking up,
Juan Carlos
