We just recently went through the same dilema, it hijacked alot of our system, reconfigured it so much that nothing would run corectly and the biggest pain was something called tripple X Toolbar......that would reinstall as fast as you took it out.
We ended up having to dump the system and reinstall all software.
I now use Zone Alarm, Eraser,Spybot,Adaware,Norton Antivirus, we run all programs at the begining and end of each day...all seems to be OK now.
I also have all active x controls off......
